Greetings Everyone!
My name is Leshaun T. Jenkins. Thank you so much for stopping in to visit my site. I am a North Carolina native who grew up in a very small town in the eastern part of the state. I matriculated through the Edgecombe County Public Schools school system where I proudly graduated from Southwest Edgecombe High School. Upon graduation, I journeyed to East Carolina University where I earned a BA degree in History as well as a BA degree Political Science. I was also just the second tennis player of color to ever play for the university in its 73-history of the program. Later I earned a Masters of School Administration degree from North Carolina State University. I would also later earn a certificate in Global Citizenship from Harvard University. In 2020 I was honored to be accepted as a Haiti Teacher Fellow through a rigorous selection process. This program was completed through UNC Chapel-Hill & Duke. Professionally, my career has spanned over two decades. I spent 16 years as a high school History Teacher and have spent the past 4 years as an Assistant Principal. I was a decorated Teacher earning Teacher of the Year four times, including Global Educator of the Year for my district in 2015. I was also a decorated coach, having earned coach of the year 18 times, including NC State Coach of the Year twice. I have led numerous professional developments around the topics of Equity, The Educational Experience of Boys of Color, and Global Education integration. I have also spearheaded and designed numerous innovative programs targeting students labeled as "at risk" in an attempt to close opportunity gaps. Globally, I have served on 10 Global Missions Trips serving in Costa Rica, Africa (Rwanda) and Haiti. I am a living witness that your passion will always unlock your purpose.
